Flat LCD TV

A flat LCD TV does not have a ctr tube but, instead a light source with polarizing filters and a thin layer of liquid crystals between, it can be very thin and efficient.....

Flat LCD TV

A flat LCD TV is an enormous acquisition because of the low profile and special efficiency, but not that alone. It is also a great because it offers the highest decree of any TVs, and also because it has squatted glares almost no glare at all.

This is because the profile of flat lcd TV means that, unlike a normal curved TV screen, which draws light from any direction and propels it to flat you in the form of glare, it is only susceptible to light turbulence from an exacting bearing, kind of like a mirror, and unless there is a powerful light source there right in that specific spot, it will not replicate it back at you.

The explanation for having a flat screen is because it does not have a cathode ray tube like a normal TV. Cathode ray tube or ctr is basically a gun that shoots out electrons at high speed at the surface of a normal TV. A pixel is given on the screen the electrons strike a surface that fluoresces. This means that a ctr must have an arched screen and enough depth to position an electron gun at the back to discharge the image out of the TV.

A flat LCD TV does not have a ctr tube but, instead a light source with polarizing filters and a thin layer of liquid crystals between, it can be very thin and efficient. It also uses less power by far than a normal TV so although initially, it will cost more than a ctr TV. Ultimately it will actually save you money by cutting down on your electricity bill but the best thing about it, its clarity of the image. Its clearness is most evident when you look at DVD movies which are at a higher resolution than normal TV.

How to Find Best Tech Bargains Online and Save a Ton

How to Find Best Tech Bargains Online and Save a Ton

Research has shown that many people are cutting their spending in order to save for the tough times ahead. With the price of gas still high enough for most of us to limit our driving time, many families simply can't afford the latest gadgets. But that's not all. A lot of families don't even afford necessities such as routers or wireless adapters as they find them expensive. But what most people don't realize is that most online retailers offer major discounts on most electronics on a daily basis in form of tech deals. Of course, if you miss these tech deals, you are going to have to pay the full listing price, and that will simply be too much for most families.

A lot of People have been taking advantage of tech deals for a while now but not enough people actually do it. The timing is very important when it comes to taking advantage of tech deals. For instance, buying a laptop around Christmas time could be much more affordable if you take advantage of the coupons offered by major laptop manufacturers such as Dell. Besides, sites such as Amazon and Buy.com, do offer daily and weekly discounts on numerous items but if you are not paying attention, there is a good chance that you will not get the chance to take advantage of them.

Here are a few ways that you can get your electronic needs without breaking your bank:

Newsletters:

Most sites come with newsletters. Believe or not, online retailers know a lot of people are reluctant to spend money in these tough times, and that is why they constantly run promotions to make merchandise more affordable to consumers. You should set a secondary e-mail address aside for newsletters from major online retailers such as Buy.com or Amazon.

RSS Feeds:

Dell, HP and eBay are famous for having RSS feeds available for every category. You should definitely sign up for RSS feeds so you can get the latest deals first.

Tech Bargain Sites:

Tech deal sites are one of the best ways to find the latest items for sale. While the deal you are looking for may not be available through these sites, there is still a good chance that you will find good deals on your other needs. Check out Slick Deals for daily tech deals.

Weekly Ads:

Shopping sites run multiple promotions every single week. But they don't want to hide them. You should definitely check weekly ads to see if there is anything on sale.

Comparison Portals:

Finally, you should check out shopping portals such as PriceGrabber and PriceWatch to see if you are getting the best price possible. In general, if you can verify that fact with these portals, there is a 95% chance that you are getting the absolute best price. I would especially recommend using these sites for expensive purchases such as HDTVs.

Paying the listing price on electronics can easily break your bank. But by taking advantage of the right promotions at the right time, you can take care of your electronics needs and save a significant amount of money in the process.

Ipod Or Zune - Pros and Cons

Ipod classic has a cheaper sound chip. And if you look back to previouis generations, where Zune and iPod had the same one, Zune sounded better. Because, iPod has cheaper internal engineering...

Ipod Or Zune - Pros and Cons

The Apple Ipod and the Microsoft Zune are the two best mp3 players in the world today. We are going to compare the Apple Ipod 80gb and the Microsoft Zune 80gb to see which would be the better buy for you. Lets compare these two players in some categories:

80gb Zune , 80gb Ipod

1. Price -$249 , $249
2. Storage - 80gb , 80 gb
3. Wi-Fi - Yes , No
4. Wireless File Sharing - Yes , No
5. Wireless Sync - Yes , No
6. Landscape Mode - Yes , No
7. Portrait Mode - Yes , Yes
8. FM Tuner - Yes , No
9. Preloaded Audio - Yes , No
10. Preloaded Video - Yes , No
11. Max Battery Life - 30hrs , 30hrs
12. Custom Background - Yes , No
13. Screen Size - 3.2" , 2.5"
14. LCD Resolution - 320x240 , 320x240
15. Video Out - 720x576 , 640x480
16. USB - Yes , Yes
17. Social Networking - Yes , No
18. Weight - 4.5ounces , 4.9ounces
19. Width - 2.4" , 2.4"
20. Height - 4.25" , 4.1"
21. Thickness - 0.5" , 0.43"
22. Compatibility - PC , Mac, PC

The Zune's screen may be bigger but it has the same resolution as the iPod screen so you're better off with the iPod? I am overly satisfied with iTunes. The purchasing interface is easier to use than the Zune marketplace. Just one dollar a song, 2 dollars an episode and so forth and carries music videos. Zune Marketplace is not as easy. iTunes carries more music too. A shared song only last three days with Zune so to me it seems completely worthless and good luck finding someone with a Zune to trade with.

It absolutely perplexes me, when people come up with this bogus "why would I want a radio with a 250 dollar mp3 player". Well, some people like listening to the radio. For instance, I always listen to radio shows on stations such as hip/hop and rap. They are nice to listen to on the way home, and at work, some reasonable human beings might really want to listen to their favorite radio show at work. All these USELESS features that iPod lovers glorify, all they do is clutter the device. Keep it simple, a higher quality, MUSIC player is better than a device which tries to cram useless "stuff" to try to please everyone.

One issue though was that some people didn't like the Zune software. They always had problems with it, they found it to be not as easy to use as iTunes or even windows media player. What Microsoft was actually trying to do, I don't know,but I didn't like it at all. Just the software alone kept people from using my Zune, and it's a shame. Microsoft really has a great product on their hand, I would love for them to update their marketplace so it is more fluent though.

Ipod classic has a cheaper sound chip. And if you look back to previouis generations, where Zune and iPod had the same one, Zune sounded better. Because, iPod has cheaper internal engineering. Cheaper internal engineering, and a cheaper soundchip, and you have a music player who does not focus on music, but darnit if it doesn't have all those amazing features. Zune has a stronger, more durable build, which sounds better.

How Cheap Can a TV Be?

How Cheap Can a TV Be?

Is there anything cheap nowadays? With the rise in prices for just about anything, is this a term anyone can use anymore? With all the new technologies available, does anyone even sell cheap TVs anymore? Or are they all technological marvels destined to drive you into the poor home? Providentially, the older CRT technology is still available and still popular. Actually, the dawn of the newer technologies makes this an excellent time to get a cheap TV that actually is quite decent, or do I say more affordable? Cheap is quite contentious here.

If you are looking for a cheap TV you'll be pretty much restricted to the CRT type, but the prices on these have dropped notably in response to the newer types, like plasma screens and LCD TVs. For why would you pay more for a LCD or plasma TV if you can get a much bigger CRT TV? I mean if the issue here is cheap, then CRT is the way to go, they actually present a technology that has been mastered even if outdated and one can lug them around, put them in high risk areas and generally treat them insensitively without worrying too much about it.

Observing the current trends on TV prices, LCD TV's price is dropping significantly and pretty soon they will be in line with their CRT counterparts. Of course now one will manage to have a cheap TV that is also state of the art. The vital question you have to ask yourself is how important is television to you? If you spend a considerable amount of time watching TV, be it sports, games, videos, then its worth splurging a little for a bigger or higher quality television. CRT TVs are therefore cheaper in comparison to LCD TVs, but they also need some buck to buy.

Buying an LCD TV

Here is a short list of things you need to consider if you're in the market for LCD TV.-Space,Location,Shipping,Price,Picture,Speakers,Style,High Definition?....

Buying an LCD TV

LCD TVs are getting more widespread attention these days. And even though CRT is not going to be extinct in the near future it sure is getting a big whack on the head by LCDs. An LCD TV is more expensive that CRT that's for sure and for a large size LCD the price can be really expensive. But they are still cheaper that the plasmas and on some model the LCD even deliver better images than plasmas. Since this is a big ticket item you really should take your time researching and this article intend to help you to choose the best.

Here is a short list of things you need to consider if you're in the market for LCD TV. I deliberately put the non-technical stuff first because they are often overlooked.

Space

Everyone wants the biggest tv they can afford but where will you going to put it? If you intend to put your LCD tv in the bedroom even a 40" will look pretty big. Whatever size you choose make sure it will not add a clutter to your room.

Location

Some TVs gets a glossy screen and glare problem when put in a bright room. So if "TV room" gets allot of sunlight check the reviews online just in case it gets any of these problems. If you buy it on an brick and mortar store it's even easier to check. Stare at the TV from different angles and see if it glares back at you.

Shipping

If you decided to buy online. Shipping can be a problem. But i'm not talking about delayed shipping or something like that but the damages that might occurred when you're TV is being shipped. A good shipping company will inspect you're TV once it arrived at your door. If the delivery guy doesn't bother to check the TV after you sign the receipt make sure he stays there while you do the inspection for any possible damages. Hook up the cable, turn it on and see if the picture is perfectly acceptable.

Price

Bigger screen, bigger price. It's as simple as that. But when you're comparing two TVs with the same screen size a more expensive one doesn't necessarily better. An LCD tv will cost you thousands of dollars and you really should be picky on your selection.

Picture

When you're buying an LCD TV on a brick and mortar store it's easy to compare the pictures cause the TVs are placed side by side. But when you're only seeing their pictures online your best bet is the reviews. Buyers that disappointed with bad quality pictures will definitely scream their heart out online.

Speakers

Built-in speakers are mostly average quality but for me it's okay since my ears can't understand the difference between average and high quality sound ( especially during regular tv programs ). You, on the other hand, may need to get some quality speakers if you're one of those who have super sensitive ears (which i envy btw)

Style

Some look great some look dull. Even though your LCD TV provide great pictures but if it looks like a glass wrapped in a plastic frame you'll be embarrassed when you're neighbor decided to watch the ball game with you. Another problem is the TV frame/enclosure. If it's too glossy it will certainly reflects some of the lights which might distract your from that movie you're watching. Also consider your interior to see if the TV will stand out too much or blend perfectly. Personally i prefer to change my room interior to match the TV than vice versa. But that just me.

High Definition?

Definitely get the HD one. It is THE future of television. If you don't get a full HD tv you'll be missing a lot of fun experience with your tv.

College Students Will Love the New Livescribe Smartpen

The Pulse Smartpen is a mind-blowing pen and a computer in one. This pen records audio while you are writing and links them together... the device has broad appeal to journalists, lawyers, doctors or anyone who tends to take notes in a meeting...

College Students Will Love the New Livescribe Smartpen

The Livescribe Smartpen may be just what the college students are looking for. For those who are having a tough time keeping up with long-winded professors they need to try the Smartpen. This unique device could save their college careers when old notes suddenly take on a meaningful and informative look.

Now instead of having to ponder over some poorly organized notes and trying to make sense of them. They will have their instructor's actual speech readily available with the tap of their Smartpen. This audio file ties directly to the key word or phrase that they wrote down during the speech. So now, review notes will be like getting their own personal instructions one more time.

The Pulse Smartpen is a mind-blowing pen and a computer in one. This pen records audio while you are writing and links them together. Then you go back to your notes, just tap what you have written the pen plays the audio that was recorded when you were writing. You can also upload the notes to your computer. Once uploaded notes can be organized, searched and shared.

When using its noise canceling and ink recognition system it works great. The Pulse can be used to take written notes that are uploaded to the PC. It can also be used to just record audio. The best evolution for note taking is the ability to match written notes with the audio. Simply put the pen into "Paper Replay" mode and tap on some text to hear what was being said as you scribbled. The result is the next best thing to real time transcription. It can be used to check what may be an unclear or hastily scribbled note. You will be able to focus on commentary while the pen captures the content. You will be able too create or copy a diagram then later have it explained via audio.

Livescribe is naturally focusing on marketing the Smartpen to the college crowd. However, the device has broad appeal to journalists, lawyers, doctors or anyone who tends to take notes in a meeting. The Smartpen may well be one of the most useful gadgets to come along in quite some time.

Down the line, the company plans to rollout new applications to widen its usefulness. These applications will broaden the functionality of the device. Translation software would be a great next step for the Smartpen.

As a digital photo hobbyist I have found have having the right tools for the job can make all the difference between frustration and enjoyment. Intuos3 Digital Tablet

The intuos3 tablet works with over 100 software programs and each program allows you to configure how the pen will respond to your touch. Touching up digital photos has never been easier....

Intuos3 Digital Tablet

The Intuos3 tablet is perfect for photographers, designers, artists, illustrators, digital camera owners, high school and higher-education students. From the professional designer or illustrator to the hobbyist the Intuos3 tablet will make you more productive.

Are you an illustrator still working with traditional mediums such as acrylics, pencils or maybe the standard pens? Do you find these to be very time consuming. Maybe it is time to move on to a Wacom Intuos3 digital tablet and become even more creative and productive.

You may not be a professional illustrator or designer but you like to edit photos, draw or dabble at designs. Do you work with digital photos? Are you constantly trashing your work only to start over? Maybe you would like to change a photo into a charcoal drawing and then add you own personal touches to it. The Intuos3 digital tablet accompanied with the bundled software will allow you to make this change with just a few clicks or taps on the tablet. Using a Wacom pen tablet is intuitive because it closely resembles the sensation of working with traditional creative tools. Yet buy using the platform you can easily change or modify your work.

The tablet in conjunction with the pen is pressure sensitive and you have all the control or your draw as if you were using the standard mediums. Want a bold line press harder. A Closer Look on The LCD TV Monitors

A Closer Look on The LCD TV Monitors

The monitors of LCD televisions are far different from other traditional monitors because of its unique slim design and high quality image resolution.. The crystal clear pictures produced by the LCD monitor is due to the technology called liquid crystal display. With this innovation, the LCD monitor is capable of generating 16.7 million colors. This means, that even the smallest of shades can be detected. Another reason why LCD monitors have gained popularity in the market is its sleekly design that made it space saving. And since it is lightweight, you can easily carry it anywhere you want.

Basically, LCD TV monitor is a combination of computer monitors and conventional televisions. They contains built-in TV tuner enabling them to operate as both. And with their audio and visual inputs you can even hook up large speakers and even woofers in to it so you can enjoy quality sounds when viewing.

The principle of CD TV monitors is to obstruct undesirable colors from the white range. Their screens consist of large number of pixels. These pixels are twisting and turning at the correct angles to create a clear image. Then, a thin lamp or an LCD projector illuminates the pixels . And because of this concept, the LCD TV monitors can be created in a compact design.. In addition, they offer great viewing angles. In fact, some LCD TV monitors is capable of producing high quality pictures when viewed even at 170 degrees angle.

Another amazing feature of LCD TV monitors is the non-glare screen. This helps viewing not straining to the eyes, even when you watch very closely. Even if they may be lights passing it will not be affected. And it gives a clear and sharp image even in a bright room, similar to what you can get when in a dark room.

The LCD TV monitors comes in different sizes such as 19', 20', 21', and 23' and up. You can also get them in small sizes of 14' and 17'. The sizes of LCD TV monitors does not affect their performance when it comes to high resolution image qualities . However, one problem with the LCD TVs is the high burn rates; this implies that the image sticks on the pixels for long periods of time. Another drawback is that it cannot run games with high density, which require HD compatibility. Also, some LCD monitors generates a ghosting effect. But not to worry because manufacturers are doing their best to enhance the features of LCD TV monitors to make them free from all these flaws.

One good feature of LCD TV monitors are its slim design. Did you know that this is because companies created them with small buttons. However, this could sometimes be an issue because if the buttons are too small, the users may have a hard time reading them.

Everyone should watch our for the new LCD TV monitor being designed. People will surely enjoy its functionality of being able to view different stations on the same TV at the same time by just changing their angle of viewing.

Apple iPod Nano Video: the sleek Apple iPod Nano of a few years back has now gotten its much deserved makeover. MP3 Player Shopping Guide

MP3 Player Shopping Guide

Clueless about MP3 players? If you are itching to buy one and join the bandwagon, then here are some tips to help give you a better idea of what players are all about and how you can choose which model of player is perfect for your needs and lifestyle.

Tip#1Basic MP3 player aesthetics

Players are generally designed for portability and easy handling. This is why when it comes to shopping for an player, especially if it's your first time, size does matter. There are a lot of players out there that are of the same size as your usual USB flash disk but what is more considered as hip nowadays is the Apple iPod shuffle and the Creative Zen stone, which are both just about the size of one's thumb.

Tip#2 Basic MP3 player features

Expect entry-level MP3 players to have a memory space of about 1 gig up to 8 gig. If you are being offered a cheap player with a memory of anything less than 1 gig, like 128MB or 512MB, then you are more or less being duped into buying a low-quality MP3 player. Since watching videos - even full-length movies have become the norm with players, electronics distributors have now started selling MP4 players as well. Some Creative Lab as well as most Apple iPod players have already gotten this upgrade.

Tip#3 MP3 player add-ons

Another thing that is worth considering when buying an player is if it will have lots of available accessories that you can use as add-ons. Both Apple and Creative Lab have come up various types of accessories for their line of players, from silicone cases, crystal cases to unique portable speakers. Showing that they have a wide variety of accessories for players, there is also a whole line of Creative Lab iPod speaker docks available in the market today.

Shopping For Digital Cameras

Shopping For Digital Cameras

If you are considering buying yourself a new digital camera, it can be confusing because there are so many new cameras out there in the market place. You must figure out just what you want from a new camera and what its' primary use will be. Basically, a digital camera works in the same fashion as a regular camera with the exception that it uses digital storage for the images rather then storing them on film. One of the best features of a digital camera is that you can instantly download images on your computer and share them with family
and friends or use them on your web site.

You need to decide what type of camera lens you are going to buy. The first type is the replaceable lens camera and the second type is the built-in lens that cannot be removed.

Digital cameras with replaceable lenses are an excellent choice to make if you are planning on building your career as an expert photographer. By changing lenses, you can experiment with different zoom positions and exposure options to improve your picture taking and picture quality. Nikon and Cannon produce some fine replaceable lens cameras.

People that are more interested in taking quick and easy pictures are better off to buy a simple point- and shoot camera with a built-in lens. Many of these types of cameras often have what is called the "red eye reduction" feature built into them that takes away the red eye look that you get sometimes in flash photography pictures. Cannon also offers some fine point and shoot cameras at reasonable prices.

These digital cameras can be taken out of the "auto" mode if you wish to have more control over the pictures that you take. You can also make other adjustments to some of the camera settings to give it your personal touch.

Other factors that you should consider before buying a digital camera include battery life, the overall weight of the camera and how many photos you can take on a single memory card. I hope this information has been useful to you. You can view digital cameras and more at the following address:

Different Types of Commercial Refrigeration

Different Types of Commercial Refrigeration

Whenever most of us think about refrigeration or having to chill food in any way, we typically think about the type of refrigerators that we have in our home. The fact of the matter is, there is a large demand for commercial refrigeration as well that ranges from blast chillers to display freezers and fish refrigerators. Here is a little bit about the different types of commercial refrigeration that is available, and some specifics on each type of refrigeration.

The first type of commercial refrigeration that we are going to talk about are blast chillers. There are a number of different types of these chillers that are available but the main purpose behind them is to get the food down to a low temperature in the shortest amount of time possible. Most of the blast chillers that are available claim to be able to drop food from a temperature of about 70?F down to below 3?F within 90 minutes. This is especially important in order to remain compliant with some of the regulations that are in place as far as the proper handling of food is concerned. There are plenty of choices available with these blast chillers so make sure that you get one that has all the options that you need.

A couple other types of commercial refrigeration that you may need include display freezers and display fridges. These are typically the ones that you would find in a grocery store or perhaps some kind of a convenience store and allow the customer to be able to see what is on the inside without opening the doors. You may also be able to get a variety of different display fridges that do not include doors. These also can be found in a lot of different food stores and offer the convenience of being able to reach directly down into the compartment in order to pick the food that you want. These display freezers and display fridges also come in smaller sizes as well and many grocery stores keep these upfront with bottled water or other drinks on the inside.

If you're running a grocery store or a fish market, you're going to need a supply of Fish refrigerators as well. These are really just commercial refrigeration that is specifically made in order to handle fish, typically on sliding trays. All that is really necessary for you to do is to decide how much of the demand you have for fish in your market and then to get the appropriate size. Of course, there are a lot of different options that are available for these type of refrigerators as well and you should make sure that you are well prepared as it is important to keep fish at the proper temperature. You can also get fish display cases that are refrigerated in order to have the fish out where your customers can see it but still keep it at a cool temperature.

Smile Shutter? Give Me a Break

Smile Shutter? Give Me a Break

All I want is a cheap digital camera to take traveling with me when I go to Argentina at the start of next year. My sister took a Sony Cybershot camera when she went on holiday and the photos she produced were brilliant, so clean and colourful. I can't afford anything that expensive so I have been trying to scour internet review sites for more informed opinions. Most of the review sites I come across are crammed with the kind of information that I find completely useless. I don't know what the hell a smile shutter is and no one ever bothers to elaborate. All I know is that it doesn't mean that the camera automatically takes a picture when the subject smiles because one could be stupid enough to invent something that ridiculous...could they?

The megapixels, the megapixels and the megapixels are always what you hear people boast about when they get a new camera. After reading as many techie reviews as I could on the net I have learned that unless you're going to crop your photo into oblivion, then the megapixels really don't make that much difference to the average photo taker. This is especially relevant for today's generation who keep most of their photographs on their laptops or just post them on Facebook. Not many people will ever get a big cropped print of their picture and big un-cropped prints apparently look so similar that the human eye can't tell any real difference, according to a test run by The New York Times tech writer David Pogue.

When I took photography A-level at college we learned how to use SLR (single lens reflex) cameras. I bought a 30 year old SLR from a Kodak shop and learned how to put in and wind up my own film. I really enjoyed the times you would get it right with the photograph after successfully steering it through the developing process. Removing the film in complete darkness so as not to damage the image, putting it in the correct mix of developing liquid and then hanging it up to dry was delicate and time consuming but so worth while for the resulting image at the end. When we were offered a choice between using digital or traditional photography to do our final projects, I chose digital. It was a choice I don't regret although I do miss the old school romance of the SLR.

I have decided upon trying to find a second hand digital SLR on the internet as I just can't be bothered with tech shops and assistants raving about the 2.5 - 3.5 steps anti-shake performance and dual anti dust systems. I'm not going to fall for all that salesman nonsense, all I need to know is if it can take a nice picture. Is that really so complicated?

Rechargeable Batteries Can Only Be Charged 300-500 Times - Part 2

In the last two articles we addressed how and why rechargeable batteries have limited charge cycles.,General Characteristics of Lithium**

Rechargeable Batteries Can Only Be Charged 300-500 Times - Part 2

We reviewed in detail the effect of a charge-discharge cycle - a chemical change in a battery system that results in degradation and power loss. But there is one aspect in my last article that deserves special attention. This one factor is the basis of battery degradation. It is the reason why batteries can never just keep going and going and going. The fact is, is that all batteries degrade and lose power because there is a reduction in the battery's active material.

We know that a battery is a device that converts chemical energy into electrical energy. In order to convert chemical energy into electrical energy there is a chain of events that have to occur prior to the creation of electrical energy. The chain of events have been discussed in depth in previous articles which you can access on my blog but what is key to the creation of electricity is that in batteries electrical energy is produced from two chemicals in a solution. After discharging you recharge the battery via a charger. The charge process involves intercalation: the joining of a molecule (or molecule group) between two other molecules (or groups). Intercalation is the process of ions being pushed by electrical current into solid lithium compounds. Lithium is one of the chemical components used to create electrical energy in batteries. Lithium compounds have minuscule spaces between the crystallized planes for small ions to insert themselves from a force of current. Ionizing lithium loads the crystal planes to the point where they are forced into a current flow. Intercalation replenishes, in effect, lithium but the net result of ionization is the ultimate depletion of the lithium reactive property. You could say if you use it you will lose it!

Why then is lithium used as the chemical to create electricity in batteries? There are a number of good reasons - let's look at a few!

General Characteristics of Lithium

* Name: lithium
* Symbol: Li
* Atomic number: 3
* Atomic weight: [6.941 (2)] g m r
* CAS Registry ID: 7439-93-2
* Group number: 1
* Group name: Alkali metal
* Period number: 2
* Block: s-block
* Standard state: solid at 298 K
* Color: silvery white/grey
* Classification: Metallic

Lithium is one of the metals in the alkali group (the other metals include Sodium, Potassium, Rubidium, Cesium, and Francium). Lithium is a highly reactive metal. Lithium has only one electron in its outer shell (two electrons in its inner shell), which makes it chemically "ready" to lose that one electron in ionic bonding with other elements. Lithium is used as a battery anode material (due to its high electrochemical potential). Electrochemical potential is the sum of the chemical potential and the electrical potential. The higher the electrochemical potential the better the electrical current yields. In some lithium-based cells the electrochemical potential can be five times greater than an equivalent-sized lead-acid cell and three times greater than alkaline batteries. One other core advantage that lithium has is that it is soft and bendable which allows for tight configurations in small cell designs (PDAs. Laptops, Cameras etc...).

Lithium, even with all of its good chemical properties will eventually, however, react to the point where the electrochemical potential will yield a charge that is simply not enough to create current to pass to power a device.

A Review on the Canon Powershot SD890 IS Digital Camera
The Canon Powershot SD890 IS Digital Camera is one of the newest cameras released by Canon. It was released in March of this year. It's priced at approximately $300, so it wasn't necessarily created with the casual photographer in mind. But as you'll soon see, it is worth the price.

We were intrigued by all of the features in this compact camera so we wanted to chat to some digital photography experts and let a few of them take this powershot out into the field and do their thing.

This ten megapixel camera promises unbelievable image resolutions. Ten megapixels are important when you like to print out large renditions of your photos. The lower levels of megapixels in certain cameras tend to turn images grainy when printed in large scale.

Unlike other canon powershot models which are made mostly out of plastic, the majority of the Canon Powershot SD890 IS digital camera is made of metal and is considered to be one of the strongest and weightiest cameras in the "compact" digital camera category, especially for the zoom quality you get.

The camera has a 5x zoom, allowing you high quality resolutions on objects that are fairly far away.
There are a large variety of shooting styles/modes in this Powershot. Our experts especially liked the focus check display mode. This particular feature identifies faces in the playback mode and then zooms in on them. This allows you to make sure that the faces are in focus. Very cool.

The lack of manual control may be frustrating for people who don't like shooting in a pre-set style. While it is true that there are plenty of pre-set options in place on this canon camera, someone who wants to have total control over image exposure might want to consider getting another of the canon digital cameras.

The SD890 IS takes a specially manufactured canon battery. These batteries are rechargeable but they are also a little on the expensive side. And charging can take up to two hours. If you are figuring on doing some time consuming shooting, you may end up spending a few bucks on backup batteries to keep yourself covered while you are in the field.
